Eastern United States / Canada September 28, 2006
We began our trip by meeting with Gus & Kay Pletz who live about 2 hours from New York. About 40 years ago Lynn worked with Gus in an architectural / engineering firm in Saginaw, Michigan. The trip started with a bang when Lynn & Crystal were informed at the airport that the flight was cancelled and they would be leaving two hours later. Lynn e-mailed Gus at a kiosk at the Midland airport at 5:00am as he had made arrangements to meet Gus & Kay at a hotel in New York at noon. ( With a two hour delay that would cause some nervousness with Gus in New York.) Fortunately, Gus checked his e-mail before they left home and adjusted their travel plans accordingly. Murphy's Law prevailed. When Lynn & Crystal arrived at the New York terminal there were no Princess personnel to transport them to the hotel. Worse, they had no way to contact Gus & Kay. After a frustrating series of conversations, for about 1 1/2 hours, with a person at the "travel desk" who assured them that a car was on its way to pick them up, Crystal contacted Princess directly and were directed to find a taxi. While on the way to the taxi stand they bumped into a uniformed Princess person who was looking for someone else. We later learned that there had been Princess personnel for the scheduled flight but nobody had informed them of the delay. To make a long story short, she called for a private limo and Lynn & Crystal arrived at the hotel around 4:00pm instead of 2:00pm. Yes, Gus & Kay were waiting. The luggage was dropped off in the room and the four of us toured a part of the city by walking and had a nice dinner at one of the local restaurants.
The next morning we were transported by Princess personnel to the Sea Princess that became our home for the next week. We had expected to see a lot of color as it was autumn but the leaves from the distance took on a shade of brown. The weather was wonderful as it only rained twice during the whole week -- three days the first time and four days the second time. Our first stops were in Newport, Rhode Island followed by Boston, Massachusetts. Friday -- September 29, 2006 Saturday -- September 30, 2006
While aboard we became friends with a couple from California -- Gary & Sally. They were our tablemates during dinner and we spent some time together enjoying the shows and performances on ship.
Gary & Sally It was around Christmas time and I decided to do a bit of photo retouch work to get rid of the busy background and I sent them their photo via e-mail as well as putting their picture on this page. So far I haven't figured out what they meant when they sent a message in a return e-mail to me stating thus:
Enjoyed the website and wanted Lynn to know we have been contacted by the
California Cross Dressers Club for membership and a fun time!!!
Sally & Gary
At the time Crystal and I were on a cruise in the Caribbean with our daughter and her husband. I was confused with the e-mail message but thought little about it as I had uploaded this section the day before we left. When we returned I was chatting with my son-in-law about how one could edit a photo to get rid of a distracting background. When I pulled up the page this is the photo I saw.
Do you see what the problem is????? My son-in-law didn't either. Then it hit me. I accidentally uploaded the wrong photo. I immediately sent Gary and Sally an e-mail to let them know that I would be changing it and that it was accidental action. She responded:
Yeah I bet...
It was good for a laugh. My sister was the one that said tell Lynn all
the hootsie tootsies are after you !!!
We did love all the garden shots...Wow what a lot of work.. But it is
beautiful.
Hope you really had fun..AND YES IT IS 73 degrees out here in sunny CA.
Sally & Gary
I assumed that since they liked it so much and got a good laugh it would be wrong to delete it. However, they sure know how to rub things in when it comes to weather. The e-mails came while Crystal and I were on a Caribbean cruise. I had written them that the temps were in low 40's when we left home. However, when we got home the temps in our area was 70 degrees -- 35 degrees in the morning and 35 degrees in the afternoon. So it was close to the same temperatures they had. An itinerary and details of the stops we made on the trip are in the order as follows. You will find additional photos and commentary about each port as you navigate through the trip.
